FAQ on “Reti di Calcolatori”

Q: Il programma è troppo pesante. Non si può ridurre?
A: È già stato ridotto rispetto a qualche anno fa; ormai non c’è più niente da togliere.

Q: Il corso dovrebbe essere da 12 CFU.
A: Sono d’accordo, ma non dipende (solo) dal docente. Bisognerebbe ridurre qualche altro corso.

Q: Ci vorrebbe un Laboratorio.
A: Sono d’accordo, ma si veda la FAQ precedente.

Q: Ci vogliono più esercitazioni.
A: Nell’A.A. 2024/25 abbiamo aggiunto 6 lezioni integrative appositamente per fare esercitazioni (e la partecipazione non è stata proprio altissima).

Q: È possibile registrare e/o trasmettere le lezioni per chi non può partecipare in aula?
A: Su Teams sono presenti registrazioni di lezioni precedenti, risalenti a qualche anno fa; il programma del corso è rimasto sostanzialmente invariato. Tuttavia, la frequenza in aula è fortemente consigliata: la partecipazione attiva alla vita accademica arricchisce l’esperienza di apprendimento con importanti opportunità di confronto e approfondimento, e l’interazione diretta con i docenti e i colleghi è un elemento formativo essenziale.

Q: Non ho ancora superato l’esame di Sistemi Operativi. Posso sostenere lo stesso l’esame di Reti di Calcolatori e registrarlo dopo che ho superato SO?
A: No.

Q: Ma neanche solo lo scritto?
A: Nooo! Inutile insistere, no è no.

Q: Il libro di testo, in edizione italiana, è fuori stampa. Con cosa posso sostituirlo?
A: Con la versione inglese più aggiornata, che è anche disponibile gratuitamente online.

Q: Vorrei fare un tirocinio/una tesi su questi argomenti. Posso iniziare prima di avere sostenuto l’esame?
A: Bene per l’interesse, ma no: prima si supera l’esame di Reti, poi si può parlare del tirocinio/tesi.

FAQ on “Network Security”

Q: Will be the lectures streamed online?
A: Likely. However, since I use quite a lot the blackboard and the slides, the experience from remote is not comparable with that in presence. So, if possible, come in presence.

Q: Will be the lectures recordings available online?
A: Yes, somehow. Either those of this year or of the last year. However, see above.

Q: How is the exam structured?
A: The Network Security exam is comprised of two parts. First, students will complete a one-hour, in-person written test covering the course content through questions and exercises. Second, students will write and present an essay on a Network Security topic. The topic will be selected in collaboration with the instructor. The essay will culminate in a 45-minute presentation, supported by slides. Presentation dates are determined individually; students should contact the instructor to request a topic when ready, submit the completed essay 2-3 weeks following topic selection, and schedule the presentation approximately one week after submission.

Q: How long is the written test valid? A: The written test is valid for the entire academic year. You must complete the essay and presentation within the same academic year. Otherwise, you will need to retake the written test.

Q: I am enrolled at the University of Udine, but I am away for xyz reasons. May I take the written exam from remote?
A: No. It must be taken in presence (unless you manage to obtain an explicit exemption from the Rector).

Q: I am enrolled at the University of Udine, but I am away for xyz reasons. May I give the presentation of the essay from remote?
A: Yes, because you have taken the written test in presence.

Q: I am enrolled at the University of Klagenfurt. May I take the written exam from remote?
A: Yes, but we have to arrange some specific surveillance at AAU, the day of the exam.

A: Yes.

Q: Esiste un formato standard per scrivere le tesi?
A: Sì, si può usare la classe LaTeX THUD che si trova su GitHub.

Q: Ma ma… non so usare GitHub.
A: Male, ora di imparare.

Q: Ma ma… non so scrivere in LaTeX.
A: Malissimo! ora di imparare!

Q: Ma non posso usare Word o qualcosa di simile?
A: Non con me 😡

Q: Posso usare Overleaf?
A: Io non lo uso. Perché pagare per qualcosa che Knuth ha creato e ci ha dato gratis?

Q: Esiste un formato standard per le slide?
A: Per le triennali, sì: è un formato Powerpoint che vi verrà inviato direttamente dalla segreteria didattica. Per le magistrali no, non c’è un formato standard, ma circolano alcuni formati semi-ufficiali sia in PPT sia per Beamer con i colori di UniUD.
